Since opening in 2013, we have welcomed travellers from all over the world and become one of Vienna’s most distinctive design hotels: full of character, quietly elegant and attentive to detail without making a performance of it.

Our location, directly opposite the Albertina and a few steps from the Vienna State Opera, makes The Guesthouse a natural choice for anyone who wants to experience Vienna beautifully and easily.

Architecture and design – Sir Terence Conran

A design hotel is not defined by a dramatic lobby or a fashionable façade. It is defined by how consistently design is considered, from the shape of a chair to the feel of a door handle.

For The Guesthouse Vienna, we worked with Sir Terence Conran and his studio, Conran & Partners. His signature is clear throughout the house: contemporary, calm and precise, with an international eye and Viennese restraint. No theatrical gestures, no design for design’s sake – just fine materials, well-composed spaces and an atmosphere you feel before you quite know why.

In the rooms, you will find pieces from the Carl Auböck workshop, seating by Wittmann and designs by Oswald Haerdtl. Friedrich Kiesler’s cantilever chair stands beside a small library of Austrian literature. The photographs are by Wolfgang Zac, an Austrian photographer now based in Los Angeles. Every piece was chosen individually; nothing feels off the shelf.

We are especially proud of our Maisonette Suites: two-level spaces with generous glazing, abundant light and architectural clarity. For anyone who loves contemporary hotel design, they are a beautiful way to experience Vienna.

Michelin Key

The Michelin Guide has awarded The Guesthouse Vienna a Michelin Key for 2024 and 2025, a distinction given to hotels with exceptional character, service and identity.

For a boutique hotel of our size, this means a great deal. I am proud of it – not because of the title itself, but because it reflects the people who make this house what it is every day.

In the 1st district

The address sets the tone. The Guesthouse is at Führichgasse 10, in the heart of Vienna’s old city, where culture, history and good food sit within a few easy steps.

The neighbourhood has pleasures of its own: the Loos American Bar, the great Viennese coffee houses, and the handmade pralines of Chocolatier Leschanz are all within walking distance.

For your arrival, we offer a fixed-price airport transfer. If you are travelling by car, the Neuer Markt underground car park is two minutes away, and our team can take care of valet parking.
