We have informed our staff about the upcoming week(s), we’ve donated all remaining food to the charity “Wiener Gruft” and closed the doors to our lovely restaurant to protect ourselves as well as our guests.  The Guesthouse Team and family always sticks together when times get tough, so be assured, NO member of staff WILL BE DISMISSED from their jobs.  Here on Instagram we will keep you updated with the latest news and info, and share stories about our restaurant, the hotel as well as our staff. And of course, we will also tell you when we’re coming back! We are really looking forward to your visits again once life gets back on track. Ab ins Museum die BIG FIVE im Ausstellungsherbst 2017

WE ARE VIENNA. Wien ist nicht ohne Grund für sein großes Angebot an Kunst- und Kulturangeboten bekannt. Jedes Jahr erwarten wir mit Spannung was denn die vielen Museen unserer Stadt (insgesamt übrigens ca. 180) im Herbst für Ausstellungen eröffnen. Das Herbstwetter ist ja geradezu dafür gemacht um ganze Nachmittage im Museum zu verbringen und danach auf Café und Kuchen – zum Beispiel zu uns ins Guesthouse zu gehen J. Oder für dich Nicht-Wiener unten unseren Lesern – der Ausstellungsherbst 2017 wäre definitiv ein Grund für einen Städtetrip.

Die 5 großen Herbstausstellungen

🎨 Albertina: Raffael

29.9.2017–7.1.2018

Raffael zählt neben Leonardo da Vinci und Michelangelo zu den bedeutendsten Meistern der Kunstgeschichte. Ob als Maler und Architekt in Florenz und Rom oder im Auftrag von Päpsten und Fürsten – Raffael ist ein wahres Universalgenie der Hochrenaissance. Die Albertina zeigt die erste monographische Schau, die Raffaels Werk in Österreich präsentiert. Zahlreiche Werke aus der eigenen Sammlung sowie aus namhaften Museen veranschaulichen die Arbeit des Meisters der Hochrenaissance. Raffaels Denk- und Arbeitsprozesse vom Entwurf bis hin zur endgültigen Komposition illustrieren sowohl meisterhafte Zeichnungen als auch die Gemälde, welche zugleich einen Überblick über das malerische Schaffen des Künstlers geben.

🎨 KHM Kunsthistorisches Museum: Peter Paul Rubens. Kraft der Verwandlung

Peter Paul Rubens war schon seinerzeit ein Star – und ist es bis heute! Sein Name steht für die Malerei einer ganzen Epoche, die Zeit des Barock. Doch kommt auch die Kunst der Gegenwart oft nicht an ihm vorbei. Das gewaltige Lebenswerk dieses Genies umfasst großformatige Altarbilder, die an Dynamik und Farbgewaltigkeit alles übertreffen, was seine Zeitgenossen gewöhnt waren.

Die Werkauswahl, darunter etwa 70 Leihgaben aus den großen Sammlungen der Welt – dem Prado in Madrid, der Eremitage in St. Petersburg oder der National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. – ist dabei so getroffen, dass Gegenüberstellungen verdeutlichen, wie Rubens arbeitet, wie ihm seine eindringlichen, überlegt komponierten Kunstwerke gelingen.

🎨 MUMOK: Naturgeschichten

Die Ausstellung Naturgeschichten. Spuren des Politischen befasst sich mit Darstellungen von Natur, die auf gesellschaftliche Prozesse und zeitgeschichtliche Ereignisse Bezug nehmen. In unterschiedlichen Themenfeldern verdeutlicht sie den Wechselbezug von Natur und Geschichte. Die Präsentation spannt einen Bogen von den 1960er-Jahren bis in die Gegenwart. Sie setzt mit Arbeiten konzeptueller Kunstrichtungen ein, die mit der Reflexion über die Rahmenbedingungen künstlerischer Produktion und Rezeption auch deren geschichtskritische Dimensionen thematisieren. Naturdarstellungen prägen auch Werke der Ausstellung, die sich mit Völkermord sowie mit Flucht und Widerstand im Rahmen totalitärer Systeme und kriegerischer Konflikte auseinandersetzen. Ein weiteres Themenfeld behandelt Veränderungen und Verwandlungen öffentlicher und historischer Orte durch natürliche Prozesse. Die alles überwuchernde Natur erweist sich dabei als Indikator geschichtlicher Dynamiken.

🎨 Wien Museum: Ganz Wien. Eine Pop-Tour

Sechs Jahrzehnte Wiener Pop-Geschichte, dargestellt anhand von Hotspots der Musikszene. Die Tour führt zu Lokalen, Diskotheken, besetzten Häusern, Radiostationen und Studios: vom Künstlertreff Strohkoffer, in dem Helmut Qualtinger seine Figur des „Halbwilden“ entwickelte, über den Folkclub Atlantis und die 80er-Kultdisco U4 bis zum Studio von Kruder & Dorfmeister, wo in Wohnzimmeratmosphäre der coole Wiener Downbeat der 90er-Jahre erfunden wurde. Das rhiz am Gürtel bietet bis heute der harschen Elektronik ein Domizil. Die einflussreichsten Musikerinnen und Musiker haben in der Ausstellung ihren Auftritt. Studio-Equipment erinnert an die Glanzzeiten der international gefeierten Wiener DJ-Szene, ehe die Ausstellung mit Acts wie Gustav, Wanda und Bilderbuch in der Gegenwart landet.

🎨 Leopold Museum: Ferdinand Hodler: Wahlverwandtschaften von Klimt bis Schiele

Seit seinem durschlagenden Erfolg auf der Secessionsausstellung 1904 präsentiert das Leopold Museum die bislang umfangreichste Retrospektive zu Ferdinand Hodler (1853–1918) in Österreich. Als Exponent von Symbolismus und Jugendstil, als Wegbereiter des Expressionismus und nicht zuletzt als Erneuerer der Monumentalmalerei, war Hodler wichtiger Impulsgeber für zahlreiche Künstler der Wiener Moderne wie Gustav Klimt und Koloman Moser, aber auch Oskar Kokoschka und Egon Schiele. Die Schau präsentiert die drei großen Themen Hodlers: Landschaften von Pleinairmalerei bis zur Abstraktion, Porträts mit Fokus auf Frauendarstellungen, Selbstbildnisse und die eindringliche Werkgruppe, welche das Sterben von Hodlers Geliebten Valentine Godé-Darel begleitet, sowie seine bedeutenden symbolistischen Figurenkompositionen.
