Breakfast and brunch at The Guesthouse Vienna

Breakfast should feel unrushed: a laid table, good coffee, something fresh from the kitchen and enough time to ease into the day. That is the idea behind breakfast at our Brasserie.

At The Guesthouse Vienna, we serve breakfast and brunch à la carte. No buffet, no rush — everything is prepared to order and brought to your table. Choose something savoury or sweet, Viennese or international, a quick espresso or a long morning with the newspaper. We start daily at 6.30 am, in a room that makes the day feel a little more generous from the beginning.

The menu — savoury, sweet and made to order

Our breakfast menu is intentionally compact: the things we love in the morning, done well. Viennese favourites, international classics and a few dishes that feel unmistakably Guesthouse.

Eggs – Eggs Benedict in several versions, omelettes, scrambled eggs and poached eggs. Prepared fresh, never held warm on a buffet.

Sweet – House-made granola, seasonal fruit, pancakes and French toast. Pastries come fresh every day from Café Prückel, from Topfengolatsche to apple strudel.

Savoury – Regional cheese and charcuterie, salmon, avocado dishes and warm plates, with produce chosen for flavour, origin and quality.

Bread & pastries – Croissants, rolls and wholegrain bread arrive each morning from the Öfferl organic bakery: organic, fragrant and properly crisp.

Drinks – Espresso, cappuccino and latte with our own roast. Fresh juices, selected teas and, for mornings worth celebrating, champagne with breakfast.

Weekend brunch

On Sundays and public holidays, breakfast simply stretches into brunch. The menu does not need to change much; the mood does. Come a little later, stay a little longer, perhaps start with something sweet and follow with Eggs Benedict. Add freshly squeezed orange juice, an espresso martini or a glass of champagne, and the day is already off to a very good start.

We recommend booking at weekends. The Brasserie is popular — and rightly so.

The atmosphere

Designed by Sir Terence Conran, the Brasserie is all warm wood, leather, brass and generous windows facing the Albertina. In the morning, the light is soft and the room feels calm, open and quietly elegant. This is not a hotel breakfast corner. It is one of the loveliest places in Vienna’s city centre to begin the day.

In summer, breakfast is served on the terrace too: outside, in the heart of Vienna, yet pleasantly sheltered from the bustle. A little like a Parisian brasserie, only with the Albertina across the street.
