Vintage Car City Tour of Vienna:
A tour of the city in a Mercedes 250 S

There are many ways to see Vienna: from a Fiaker, from an open-top bus, or simply on foot. And then there is ours: from the back seat of a 1967 Mercedes 250 S, beautifully preserved, with a chauffeur at the wheel and the city passing by at just the right pace.

The Guesthouse Limousine is not a vintage car hired in from a fleet. Manfred Stallmajer found it himself, had it carefully restored and brought it back onto the road. It belongs to the hotel in the same way as the Brasserie, the Conran interiors or the photographs in the rooms: a detail chosen with real affection.

The car – a 1967 Mercedes 250 S

The Mercedes-Benz 250 S was a luxury car in the late 1960s. Sitting in it still feels first class. The seats are generous, the upholstery is soft, the engine runs beautifully, and the doors close with a sound modern cars seem to have forgotten.

It is in its original 1967 condition: no replica, no conversion, no retro styling. When you step inside, you really are travelling through Vienna in a piece of motoring history.

Vienna by chauffeur-driven classic car

The classic car tour is available only with a chauffeur, so you can sit back, look out of the window and enjoy the city without thinking about traffic, one-way streets or parking.

Your route can take you along the Ringstrasse, past the State Opera, the Hofburg, Parliament and the Burgtheater, through the narrow lanes of the Old Town and, depending on your wishes, out to Schönbrunn or along the Danube Canal. One hour is enough for the highlights; longer tours are available on request.

The pace is deliberately unhurried. You do not rush in a 1967 Mercedes. You take your time – and that is precisely the pleasure of it.

Occasions worth arriving for

Guests often book the car for special moments: a milestone birthday, a wedding anniversary, a proposal, a surprise. Some choose it for an airport transfer too, because arriving in Vienna by classic Mercedes feels rather different from arriving by taxi.

The car is also popular for weddings and photo shoots. Its sleek silver silhouette against Vienna’s Baroque backdrop creates images with a character no modern vehicle could match.

More than a drive

Vienna has no shortage of city tours. What sets this one apart is not only the route, but the experience itself: the scent of leather, the gentle hum of the six-cylinder engine and the admiring glances of passers-by as the silver Mercedes glides through the city centre. This is no ordinary sightseeing tour, but a distinctly Guesthouse way to discover Vienna.

The tour can also be combined with a stay at The Guesthouse Vienna: explore the city by classic car in the morning, visit a museum in the afternoon and enjoy dinner at the Brasserie in the evening. A day in Vienna with a touch of old-world glamour.
